Our Story

Keys to the Culture waist beads was established March 2017. However, we didn’t officially launch the brand until May 2017. Why waist beads, anklets and bracelets? Here, we are deeply connected with our African ancestral roots and some of the cultural practices. Tying strings of beads, bells and other trinkets around our bellies, ankles and/or wrists is a popular practice linked directly to our ancestry. This act of adorning our bodies is both a physical and spiritual practice. A practice that assists us with staying focused on specific intentions. This practices also heightens our sense of being aware.

Keys to the Culture is NOT responsible if the wrong size has been ordered. It is extremely important that you measure your waist prior to ordering. Do NOT guess the measurement of your waist. Please measure your waist, then add another inch and half to the measurement. Order your waist bead based on the total measurement.

We are NOT responsible if the string breaks. It is the buyer’s responsibility to be mindful of not snagging or pulling the waist bead.

Staying intentional and focused is a part of the art of waist bead wearing.
